Planet Fitness, the largest gym chain in the U.S., has maintained their “classic” membership price of $10 a month for the last 26 years.
That will be coming to an end soon as representatives announce the gym will be raising their membership price to $15 beginning this summer.
The initial pricing strategy has been integral in drawing new customers and keeps patrons paying even if they do not attend the gym regularly.
An executive expressed to media that the reason for the price hike is to “further enhance the average unit volumes for our stores.”
The gym chain’s more exclusive “Black card” membership will remain the same amount at $25 monthly.
